A four-step tour using the downloadable Runner 0.7.1. The output below was recorded from a real local dry run on 14 September 2026, after market hours. Simulated fills only — no brokerage orders, no profit claim. Setup and scanning take longer than this tour.
Get the free ZIP. It includes the Runner, a signed practice rulebook and Windows/Mac/Linux launchers. Install Node.js 20 or newer if you do not have it, then open a terminal in the unzipped folder. The setup guide explains each step.
node --version .\start.cmd verify
These are Windows commands. On Mac/Linux, use ./start.sh verify after following the guide's launcher setup. Verification checks the rulebook's signature and format; it does not prove the strategy will make money.
.\start.cmd describe
The captured starter has three books: a 15-minute short-side book, and 1-hour and 4-hour long-side books. Long means buying first and selling to close. Short means selling borrowed shares first and buying back to close. This tour uses dry-run simulation; actual short selling requires broker approval.
Read the entry conditions, position limits and exits. Your current download may differ from this dated recording: run verify and describe on your own file.
Use a fresh extracted folder with no runner.config.json for the default dry-run mode. If reusing a folder, first check runner.config.json has "mode": "dryrun". The command below does not override a saved mode.
.\start.cmd run --once
No broker keys were configured in this recording. Never paste brokerage keys into this website.
Without keys, this version uses its fallback symbol list and public price bars, not the full authenticated scanner. Dry-run can evaluate completed bars after hours; brokerage orders follow separate session checks.
SKIP UBER: the signal bar closed 419 min ago — too old to chase ENTER ADBE @ 265.40 · $10000 · stop 257.44 target 332.66 [4h book] why: rule 2/4 — rsi_recovery
In plain English: the Uber signal was too old, so the Runner ignored it. Adobe met the 4-hour book's RSI recovery rule: 14-bar RSI was between 38 and 54, price was higher than five bars earlier, and price was at least 1.2% above the prior 20-bar low. The Runner simulated a $10,000 entry with an exit plan.
This was not a broker fill. Dry-run uses exact bar prices and excludes spread, slippage and commission. The full scan produced three simulated entries, with no closed trades. It does not establish profitability or successful brokerage execution.
Read the recorded output and download hashes. Symbols and prices are historical examples, not recommendations to trade them.

update. Failed signatures are refused.Rules, not the hosted AI: the Runner executes the supplied strategies on your computer. The website's AI reviews, news research and learning database stay on the website. Data timing, stock selection, account limits and fills can differ. The Runner's 4h bars use fixed session slots; the website uses rolling groups. Legacy short-horizon files use 15m, while the hosted bots use 5m. Run verify to see your file's actual intervals. These differences mean a download is not a copy of the public account or its returns.
14-day no-questions refund. Cancel the subscription anytime — your last playbook keeps working forever.
Your license activates the Runner on up to 3 of your computers; reading and back-testing the rules never needs a key.
One Runner per brokerage account — paper or live. Brokerage execution requires our account-binding startup check; three activations do not permit sharing one account. Keep your original ledger and installation; no automatic account transfer or reset. Read the requirements before buying.
The rulebook catalogue
Start by comparing three different approaches: patient positions, recovery setups and fixed rules. These are starting points, not our three best performers or a ranking of safety. Every record shown is paper trading; your results can differ.
Showing three starting points. No rulebook is selected for you.
See all rulebooks to compare the full catalogue, including held and research-only bots. A young bot carries its verdict date on the card. Files marked SHORT require a margin account with shorting enabled and Runner v0.6.1 or newer; read the full short disclosure above checkout.
Buy-once pricing is $40/each · pick 1 or 2 — see the "Own a playbook" plan above. Full rulebook sets, every book a bot runs — pick 1 or 2 ($40 each); a 3-pack is coming
Pick at least one playbook to continue.
SHORT If your pick includes a file marked SHORT in the catalogue: This is a SHORT-side rulebook — it sells borrowed shares first and buys them back to close. Running it needs a margin account with shorting enabled at your broker; a cash account cannot run it at all. It only enters a symbol your broker reports as shortable and easy to borrow at that moment, so some signals simply will not trade when borrow supply is tight. After a short fills, the Runner attempts a protective buy-to-cover stop above your entry. Placement can fail and execution price is not guaranteed. A short's loss is not capped by what you put in, because the price it has to buy back at has no ceiling.
SYSTEM If your pick includes The System: This file contains all 15 System setup definitions (Earnings Quality Trend acts only as an exit, as on the site). It is an executable rules adaptation, not the hosted account: candle timing, position management and the site's hedge sleeve can differ. Its own record starts the day you run it. The public record you saw belongs to the live System account, which returned −7.17% before the 27 July 2026 restart (paper, different market).

† Published AI playbooks include our broad scan list (roughly 1,000 stocks when exported). With your own Alpaca keys the Runner uses IEX market data to select a smaller list for its trading rules. Without that data it uses the file's built-in fallback list and reports the fallback. Published updates can refresh both lists. Data feeds, timing, holdings and the selected stocks can differ from the website.
The Runner app itself is a free download — grab the zip here any time, no sign-up. If you buy a playbook, your signed .playbook.json file and your license key appear on the confirmation page right after checkout and arrive by email (subject: "Your Playbook license key") — save that email; the key is what re-downloads your playbooks later via the update command. What you're buying
A playbook is a small file of trading rules — plain enough to read over coffee. No black box, no "trust us."
Exactly when it buys and when it sells, written as measurable conditions — trend, momentum, volatility. Pure math on public prices. No guessing, no vibes.
The rules define an exit plan, position limits, trade-size caps and a daily loss limit. After a broker entry fills, the Runner attempts to place a protective stop. Rejections, outages and price gaps can prevent protection or change the exit price; a stop is not a guarantee.
Each playbook is cryptographically signed. Its source bot's changing paper record — wins and losses — is public on the arena; that is not a record earned by the downloaded file. You can replay the file against the available historical prices on your own machine before risking money.
Where playbooks come from
Every bot on the Arena trades a practice account on real prices. AI-managed rulebooks go through the cycle below. The System is the fixed-rules comparison and does not receive AI rewrites.
Each bot trades its rulebook against market prices. The public scoreboard shows the recorded paper results, including losses; it is not an immutable or independently audited ledger.
Daily, the AI reviews its own wins, losses, and the market's current mood — trending, choppy, or falling.
It proposes changes to its own playbook — the way you'd revise an essay, not start a new one.
The new rules only take over if they beat the current rules in testing. Weak rules usually get filtered out in testing before they ever trade — though a strategy that passes today can still fade if the market's character changes (see the System example below).
On your computer
The free Runner app repeats one honest loop. This part needs no AI at all — the rules are the machine.
On your configured schedule it fetches prices and checks completed candles at the intervals declared in your file. An hourly rule still waits for an hourly candle.
For each stock it checks the file's entry conditions and risk limits. Long-side rules buy first; short-side rules borrow and sell first, where the broker allows it.
When a permitted signal fires, it records an order and exit levels. Broker orders can be rejected or only partly filled; the Runner tracks the broker's confirmed fills.
It checks stops, targets, holding limits and exit rules. Long positions close by selling; shorts close by buying back. If its records and the broker disagree, it halts the affected symbol and reports the problem for you to resolve.
Every action is logged in plain English, with the exact rule that caused it. You can always answer "why did it do that?"

How daily updates work
The Arena's AI bots can review and revise their rules as conditions change. Live-Sync gives your Runner the latest signed version after it is published and a check succeeds. Several rewrites can happen between publications, so you may not receive every intermediate version. Your computer must be running and connected. This is rule delivery, not continuous access to the hosted AI.
Example, not a past tradeA surprise announcement changes market conditions.
The arenaAn eligible bot may review its rules. A review can also decide to keep them unchanged.
The websiteAdopted rules are exported and signed on the publisher's schedule. Adoption and publication are separate steps.
Your computerThe Runner requests the latest published file and verifies it before use. A failed check keeps the installed copy. No fixed delivery time or matching trade is promised.
Your machine, your broker, your money — with published rule updates during the beta. The download does not contain the hosted AI, research database or learning service. On the roadmap: an optional mode using your own AI account to review your own results. It is not included today and is not needed to run the current rules.

This file contains all 15 System setup definitions (Earnings Quality Trend acts only as an exit, as on the site). It is an executable rules adaptation, not the hosted account: candle timing, position management and the site's hedge sleeve can differ. Its own record starts the day you run it. The 15 setups in the file: Turtle 20 Breakout, Darvas Box Breakout, Championship VCP Breakout, Capital Guard Breakout, EMA Reclaim Trend, RSI Recovery, Connors RSI(2), Donchian Swing, EMA Pullback Swing, Trend Pulse, Mean Reversion, Breakout Engine, Relative Strength Leader, Flow Confirm, Earnings Quality Trend (3 of them have not fired on the public account yet). Every setup that drove the record's 1,948 closed trades is in the file. The record also holds 2 regime-hedge trades from the site's hedge sleeve, which is a site-side layer, not a setup.
The System Playbook is the arena's benchmark: a fixed rulebook that buys breakouts, never learns, and never updates — the measuring stick the AIs are trying to beat. Its current rank is read live below. Two things to know before the impressive number below: the record belongs to the live System account — the file's own record starts the day you run it — and what the file holds is counted above, from the file and the ledger, never typed. Here is the whole truth, the same way we publish it on the scoreboard:

Risk, in the right order
No brokerage orders. Dry-run simulates decisions using price data. No money is invested. Its simplified fills do not include real trading costs.
Broker practice orders, simulated money. Connect a separate Alpaca paper account to test order handling. Confirm that both your keys and account are paper-only; these results still do not establish live performance.
Your money, your keys, your call. Real trading requires live-account setup, risk caps and the I UNDERSTAND THE RISK acknowledgement. Review your saved configuration before every run. Software checks reduce mistakes; they do not make trading risk-free.
Skin in the game
See its current source bot, limits and recorded results, including losses. It runs on the hosted system, not the customer Runner, so its performance does not establish what your download will earn.
Setup
You will need Node.js, an unzipped folder and a terminal. Start without a broker connection; the guide walks through the commands.
Install Node.js (a free, standard tool millions of apps run on — version 20 or newer), unzip the Runner anywhere, and drop your playbook file in the same folder.
Windows: start.cmd
Mac/Linux: ./start.sh
Type verify first — it shows you, in plain English, exactly what your playbook does.
Replay the playbook against months of real historical prices — on your machine, from public data. Don't trust our numbers; make your own.
backtest --symbol NVDA
Starts in dry-run mode. It reports every decision and saves a full local ledger. Climb to paper — then real — whenever you decide.

Honest answers
Honestly: we don't know which holds up longer — that's the evidence the Arena collects. The same rules lost 7.17% (paper) before the 27 July 2026 restart. Check its current rank on the Arena before you choose.
Pricing goes to the regular rate — $40 for a playbook, $20/month or $160/year for Live-Sync — for anyone after seat 10. If you buy as a Founder, your discounted price is locked in for as long as you keep that playbook or keep the subscription active; it never reverts.
The logic will — a test in the Runner proves it makes the identical decisions the arena's engine makes on identical data. Your fills won't match penny-for-penny: different account size, different timing, different broker. Expect the shape to match, not every cent. Anyone who promises exact replication is lying to you.
We do not receive your brokerage keys, account number, balances, positions or trades. Your keys stay in your local config and are sent only to your broker. The Runner also contacts price, optional AI, download and activation services. Brokerage execution requires our account-binding startup check: hashed account and ledger-path identifiers, random installation and ledger identifiers, and a random binding token are registered with us. This enforces one Runner per account; it is not analytics. A failed check prevents startup. See the requirements and transfer limitations.
Your most recent playbook keeps working forever — it's a file you own. It simply stops receiving updates, which means it slowly becomes a snapshot of the market's past instead of a response to its present.
Yes — it's readable JSON and it's yours. If you change it, the Runner still runs it; it just labels it "modified — not an authentic export," so you always know whether you're running the arena's version or your own.
No, and we don't know — nobody does. This is software plus published strategies with a public track record. Markets involve real risk of loss, past results don't predict future results, and the losing days are on the scoreboard next to the winning ones. Start in dry-run mode. Never trade money you can't afford to lose.
Any Windows, Mac, or Linux machine that can run Node.js 20 or newer — most computers from the last few years already can. It needs to be on during market hours to trade.
Yes, while it trades. It checks the market every 15 minutes and only acts while it's open — a sleeping laptop or stopped program places no new trades. Existing broker orders may remain active, but protection is not guaranteed: stop placement can fail, fractional-share stops can expire that day, and prices can gap. Stopping the Runner does not close your positions. Use a reliable machine, preserve its original ledger and account binding, and supervise your broker account.
Trading stocks involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for everyone. The playbooks are published strategies with public records, not personalized investment advice; no performance is promised or implied, and past results do not predict future results. You alone control your accounts, your keys, and the decision to trade paper or real money. If you are unsure, stay in dry-run mode — it's free forever. Read the full Terms of Use & Sale and Risk Disclosure — every purchase requires agreeing to both.
