Terms of Use & Sale

Last updated 8 September 2026 · Version 2.7 — adds the one-Runner-per-brokerage-account restriction, required startup registration, information sent and account-transfer limitations. Version 2.6 clarified that short-side playbooks are not currently offered for sale and that protective orders can fail; Version 2.3 added watermark and activation terms. Purchases are governed by the version you accept at checkout; we record the date, time, and version of that acceptance.

These terms govern your use of AI Trading Competition and any subscription you purchase. The service is operated by The Skill Mill, a brand of Omni Development Partners LLC. By using the site or subscribing, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Contact: support@aitradingcompetition.com.

Educational and simulated only. AI Trading Competition is a research, education, and entertainment product. All trading on the site is simulated (paper), and nothing on the site is investment advice. One exception exists, and it lives entirely on your side of the screen: the separately sold Playbook Runner software can — only at your explicit, repeated choice, on your own computer, through your own brokerage account — place real orders. If you enable that, you trade entirely at your own risk. See the Playbook section below and our Risk Disclosure.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to purchase a subscription, and at least 13 to use the free features. You agree to provide accurate account information.

The free trial

We offer a 7-day free trial that requires only an email address — no credit card. During the trial you can use the paid features described for your plan. When the trial ends, access to paid features stops unless you choose to subscribe. Because the trial takes no payment method, nothing is charged automatically at the end of a trial.

Subscriptions, prices & billing

Paid plans are billed through Stripe. Current plans:

PlanPrice
Arena Insider$6.99 / month or $69 / year
Stocks app (full)$29 / month or $299 / year
Your Rival (chess)$9.99 / month, after a 7-day free trial (no card required)
The Morning Desk$9.99 / month
Playbook file (one-time purchase)$40
Playbook 3-pack (any three playbook files, one-time purchase)$99
Live-Sync (all playbooks, kept current)$20 / month or $160 / year
Unhinged Alerts (trade alerts from the conviction books)$9.99 / month

Prices are in U.S. dollars and shown at checkout before you pay, along with the billing period and renewal terms. The chess subscription (Your Rival) and The Morning Desk are each separate from the Arena Insider and the trading-app plans; buying one does not include the others.

Auto-renewal

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) at the then-current price, using your payment method on file, until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize these recurring charges. We will show the price and renewal cadence at checkout.

Cancellation

You can cancel anytime; cancellation stops the next renewal and takes effect at the end of your current paid period, during which you keep access. To cancel, use the account/billing controls in the app or email support@aitradingcompetition.com. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for how charges are treated.

Playbook files & the Runner software

We also sell downloadable products: playbook files (impersonal, mechanical trading strategies published with their live records) and the Runner software that executes a playbook on your own computer. This section governs those products, in addition to everything above.

Acceptance at purchase

Playbook checkout requires you to affirmatively check a box agreeing to these Terms and the Risk Disclosure. The box is never pre-checked, and checkout is refused without it. We record the date, time, and Terms version you accept; that record is our mutual evidence of this agreement, and your purchase is governed by the version you accepted.

What these products are — and are not

License

On purchase we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Runner and your purchased playbook files on devices you control, for your own trading. You may modify your copies for your own use (the Runner labels modified files as such). You may not resell, redistribute, or offer the playbooks or the Runner as a service to others.

Watermark and license activation

Every playbook file you download carries a watermark tied to your license — your masked email address only, never your card details or full email. Trading with a purchased playbook — paper or real money — requires activating your license on that computer, on up to three computers at a time; you can deactivate a computer to free a slot for another. Activation sends us your email, your license key, and an identifier for that device — never your broker keys, positions, or trades. Reading, verifying, and backtesting a playbook never requires activation. Redistributing or reselling a playbook, or sharing your license so others can activate or trade it, is a breach of this license and ends it without a refund.

One Runner per brokerage account

Brokerage execution, in paper or live mode, is restricted to one Runner installation, one ledger and one running process per brokerage account, including the free starter. Do not use another bot or place manual trades in the same account. The three-device license allowance applies to separate brokerage accounts; it does not permit simultaneous Runners on one account.

Starting brokerage execution, including the halt and reconcile commands, requires an online check with our account-binding service. It receives hashed account and ledger-path identifiers, random installation and ledger identifiers, and a random binding token. It receives no brokerage keys, account number, balances, positions, trades or literal filesystem path. The binding is permanent, not a lease that expires when a process stops; service unavailability prevents startup. A buy-once activation token's lack of expiry does not remove this startup requirement.

You must retain and securely back up the original state file, its path and the local ownership record. Stop the Runner before upgrading and preserve these records. Moving machines, changing the ledger path or losing an ownership record requires support and account review; there is no automatic transfer or reset, and deactivating a license does not transfer an account binding. Do not erase state to clear an error. You remain responsible for supervising your brokerage account: stopping the program does not cancel orders or close positions.

Risk disclosure — read it twice

TRADING STOCKS AND OTHER FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS INVOLVES SUBSTANTIAL RISK OF LOSS, INCLUDING THE POSSIBLE LOSS OF ALL CAPITAL, AND IS NOT SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE. IF YOU CONNECT ANY BROKERAGE ACCOUNT TO THE RUNNER — PAPER OR LIVE — AND PERMIT IT TO PLACE ORDERS, YOU DO SO ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. YOU ALONE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERY ORDER PLACED THROUGH YOUR ACCOUNTS, FOR SUPERVISING THE SOFTWARE, FOR YOUR BROKER'S FEES AND RULES, AND FOR ONLY EVER RISKING MONEY YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE.

Software can malfunction. Market data can be wrong, delayed, or missing. Orders can fill at prices different from any model. A strategy that earned money in the past — including on our public records — can lose money at any time, for any duration, without warning.

Short selling

Short-side playbooks are not currently offered for sale. If they become available, a playbook taking short positions works as follows: they sell a stock the account does not own and aim to buy it back later. Shorting is not a variation on buying. It is a different kind of risk, and it happens in your own brokerage account under your broker’s rules, not ours.

If any of this is unfamiliar, do not run a short playbook with real money. Nothing here is a recommendation to short anything.

Hypothetical and simulated performance

Backtests you run in the Runner and the paper-trading records published on this site are simulated. In the spirit of CFTC Rule 4.41, we tell you plainly:

HYPOTHETICAL OR SIMULATED PERFORMANCE RESULTS HAVE CERTAIN LIMITATIONS. UNLIKE AN ACTUAL PERFORMANCE RECORD, SIMULATED RESULTS DO NOT REPRESENT ACTUAL TRADING. ALSO, SINCE THE TRADES HAVE NOT BEEN EXECUTED, THE RESULTS MAY HAVE UNDER- OR OVER-COMPENSATED FOR THE IMPACT, IF ANY, OF CERTAIN MARKET FACTORS, SUCH AS LACK OF LIQUIDITY. SIMULATED TRADING PROGRAMS IN GENERAL ARE ALSO SUBJECT TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE DESIGNED WITH THE BENEFIT OF HINDSIGHT. NO REPRESENTATION IS BEING MADE THAT ANY ACCOUNT WILL OR IS LIKELY TO ACHIEVE PROFITS OR LOSSES SIMILAR TO THOSE SHOWN.

Past performance — simulated or real, including the operator's own published real-money account — does not predict future results.

Assumption of risk, release & indemnity

By enabling paper or live trading in the Runner, you knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks of automated trading, and, to the maximum extent permitted by law, you release us from any claim arising out of orders placed through your accounts, market losses, software defects, data errors, or your own configuration choices. You agree to indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your use of these products in violation of these Terms or of applicable law (for example, redistributing purchased files, or running the software on an account you are not authorized to trade).

Playbook refunds

Playbook purchases and Live-Sync subscriptions carry a 14-day no-questions refund of the initial charge — see the Refund & Cancellation Policy. A 3-pack is one purchase: refunding it ends the license for all three files. Live-Sync cancellations take effect at the end of the paid period; playbook files you have already downloaded keep working.

What you get — and its limits

Acceptable use

You agree not to: misuse or disrupt the service or its infrastructure; attempt to access other users' data or accounts; scrape, resell, or redistribute the service or its data except as we expressly allow; use the service for unlawful purposes; or circumvent access controls, rate limits, or the paywall. Games use play chips only — no wagering, prizes, or real-money play.

Your content

Messages, prompts, and other content you submit remain yours, but you grant us a license to use them as needed to operate and improve the service. Do not submit anything unlawful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to share.

Intellectual property & third-party marks

The site, its content, and its software are owned by us or our licensors. "ChatGPT", "GPT", "OpenAI", "Claude", "Anthropic", "Grok", "xAI", "Gemini", "Google", "SPY", "Bitcoin", and other names and marks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only; their use does not imply affiliation or endorsement. Market data is provided by third parties under their own licenses and may not be redistributed.

Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits or trading or investment losses, arising from your use of the service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of the service or its products shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose. Because all trading on the site is simulated, the site is not intended to be, and must not be relied on as, a basis for real financial decisions; if you choose to trade real money through the Runner, the Playbook section above governs.

Changes & governing law

We may update these terms; we will change the "last updated" date and, for material changes, provide more prominent notice. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute shall be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York. Nothing here waives rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
